The family of Archie Blaine Silkworth, 70, of Augusta, MI share that he passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023.

Archie was born on December 10, 1952 in Marshall, Michigan to Cyrus and Thelma (Fuller) Silkworth in Marshall, Michigan. He attended Battle Creek Central High School and later obtained two associate degrees from Kellogg Community College. Archie had a life of service to his community in the roles of EMT, Paramedic, Mental Health Technician at Adventist Hospital and at BCVA, Reserve Police office for the Village of Augusta and Lithotripsy technician. In most recent years he served on the Galesburg-Augusta School Board and on the Augusta Village Board as Trustee.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Valerie (Wymer) Silkworth; Son, Sean (Amelia) Silkworth, and grandchildren, Andy, Nolan, Christopher, Jacob, Margaret, and Claire; and brother, Jerry Gates of Georgia. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Archie was preceded in death by his parents, Cyrus and Thelma Silkworth; siblings, Chuck Gates, Joan Shreve, Cyrus Silkworth, Mary Silkworth and Frank Silkworth

In the words of one of his physicians, Archie had a strong constitution and survived one medical challenge after another, still finding time for his favorite hobbies and activities he loved: camping, fishing, and firearms training.

Family and friends are invited to join Val and the kids at Archie's Visitation, which will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel, at 307 Webster Street. A memorial service will immediately follow at Noon. A Celebration of Life will then be held at 2:00 p.m. at Riverview Recreation with a light meal and refreshments.
