Anna Merriam

Anna L. Merriam, age 80, died under hospice care at her sister's home on September 11, 2019. She was born December 20, 1938, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Claude Hoogakker and Fannie Ruth (Goble) Burr. Ann graduated from high school in Portage. On January 10, 1959, Ann was married to Allen E. Merriam. For over 45 years, she was a devoted member of the Chapman Memorial Church of the Nazarene, where she assisted in the office and the nursery. Ann enjoyed photography, painting, reading and word searches. Her family includes her children: Gail (Robert) Feister, Terry (Dorothy "Jake") Merriam, and Jerry (Marie) Merriam; her daughter-in-law Marcia Merriam; her 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; her sisters: Bonnie (Jim) Nelson and Nona Tucker; her step-sister Kathy and several nieces and nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her husband Allen, her son Jody Merriam, and her sister Claudia Hill. Visitation will be held from 2 PM to 4 PM on Sunday, September 15th, 2019, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 411 E Centre Ave, Portage, MI 49002. Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, September 16th at 7520 E U Ave, Vicksburg, MI 49097, with Pastor David Downs officiating. The family will greet visitors an hour prior to the service at the church. Graveside services will follow in Vicksburg Cemetery.
