Anna "Annie" Elisabeth (Marienfeld) Doerfer, age 87, of Celina, Texas, formally of Portage, Michigan passed away peacefully on Monday, August 13, 2018. She was born November 16, 1930, in the small village of Rederitz, Germany, to Agnes and Joseph Marienfeld. Anna married Siegfried Doerfer on December 25, 1950, in Germany. In 1954 they came to the U.S. with their son, residing in Kalamazoo, to begin a better life in America and later became U.S. Citizens. Annie worked at Jolly Kids Togs in the cutting department for several years and later retired as an inspector/packer after 22 years with the Fabri-Kal Corp. when the company closed their Kalamazoo plant. Annie was quite the collector of German music and served as the music coordinator in the early years of the German-American Club of Kalamazoo which she and her husband along with friends & relatives helped establish. Together they enjoyed many years of waltzing at the monthly club dances. Annie kept busy knitting and crocheting making slippers for the whole family and everyone looked forward to their new pair each year. Annie is survived by her son, Burk Doerfer and his wife, Robin of Vicksburg, Michigan; her daughter, Christine Colbert and her husband, Jeff, of Lake Kiowa, Texas. She leaves behind several grandchildren, Cory (Jessalynn) Colbert, Kelly (Mike) Fitzpatrick, Ben (Heather) Navarro, Betsy (Matt Sr.) Hickok, Anne Marie (Brian) Clark; and great-grandchildren, Mason Colbert, Adler Colbert, Matt Hickok Jr., Liberty Hickok, Kaitlyn Clark, Adison Clark, Gabrielle Navarro, Lila Navarro; who all will miss her dearly. Also surviving, many nieces and nephews here in the U.S. and Germany. She was preceded in death by her husband, Siegfried Doerfer; her parents; her brother, Helmut Marienfeld; and her sisters, Dorothea Birnbaum and Monika Hass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in remembrance of Annie to Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation of Texas, 7240 Chase Oaks Blvd., Plano, TX 75025. A dinner memorial will be held for family and friends on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in the Primo Room at Bravo Restaurant, 5402 Portage Rd., Portage, MI.
