Stanton, Alice 9/12/1918 - 1/27/2017 Gobles, MI Went home to be with the Lord on January 27, 2017. Alice was born September 12, 1918 to Abe and Effie (DeBoer) Vander Molen in Decatur, Michigan. She grew up in Kalamazoo and was a 1935 graduate of Central High. Alice married LaRue Stanton in 1941 and moved to Long Beach, California to support the war effort at Douglas Aircraft. In 1953 they traveled back to Michigan with their four children to carry on the Stanton Farm, south of Gobles. She kept busy raising her family along with her fruit, vegetables, eggs, honey, and maple syrup. She was an active member of the Covey Hill Baptist Church teaching Sunday School and hosting weekly Bible Study in her home. Alice was preceded in death in 2002 by her husband of 60 years, LaRue; brothers, Eddie, James, Andrew Vander Molen; and her sisters, Florence, Elsie, Gertrude, and Evelyn Vander Molen. Surviving are her youngest brother, Dick Vander Molen; four children, David Stanton of Phoenix, Virginia (Larry) Cain of Holland, Bill (Diane) Stanton and Harold (Linda) Stanton of Gobles. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. The family will meet friends Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Covey Hill Baptist Church, where the funeral will be at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Robinson Cemetery, Bloomingdale Township. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Covey Hill Baptist Church.
