Alice Abbott

Passed away at her home on Monday, March 9, 2026, with her family by her side. Alice was born on May 28, 1929, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Orloh and Carrie Marie (Clover) Clawson. After graduating from high school, Alice married the love of her life, Kenneth, who she spent 67 loving years with. Together they raised four children on a farm. After all her kids grew up, Alice decided to go back to school for a Nursing Degree. During that time, she worked in hospitals as a private nurse. In her life, Alice was able to visit all fifty states and loved traveling across the country. Alice also had many hobbies including reading, fancywork, jewelry making, gardening and walking.

Surviving Alice are her children, Beverly (Lary Nicklin) Gilchrist, Lynda (Bill) Buckmaster, Martin (Dona) Abbott; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; daughter in law, Brenda Abbott. Preceding her in passing are her parents; husband, Kenneth; child, James Abbott; sister Aline Clawson; brother, Othel (Leveda) Clawson.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at 2PM on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation services, 622 South Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Green Acres, 298 Kay Lane, Wayland Mi 49348 in memory of Alice Abbott.
