Obituary
Ali Aardema, age 15, of Overisel, passed away after a courageous seven year battle with leukemia, on Thursday, December 20, 2007, at the Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Ali was a 10th grader at Hamilton High School where she was a percussionist in the band, served as freshman class officer and had been on student council. She was a talented pianist and was selected to participate in several MMTA Honors Recitals and qualified for the MMTA State Competition in 2005. She attended Central Wesleyan Church. She loved spending time with family and friends. Despite her illness she was an encouragement and inspiration to those around her.
She is survived by her parents, Steve and Julie Aardema of Overisel; sisters, Megan and Kara, both at home; grandparents, Duane and Mary Aardema of Zeeland, Wendell and Gayle Kollen of Perrysburg, Ohio; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 24, 2007 at Central Wesleyan Church, 446 West 40th Street, Holland, in the Worship Center. Dr. Paul Hontz, and Reverends Lynn Bruce and Dan Seaborn will be officiating. Burial will be in Overisel Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. in the Forum Room at Hamilton High School, 4911 136th Avenue, Hamilton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Michigan or the Make a Wish Foundation. Arrangements are by Lakeshore Memorial Services.
