Keener, Alan Michael 1/7/1942 - 11/30/2022 SCOTTSDALE Alan Michael (Mike) Keener, 80, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away after a pneumonia related illness on November 30, 2022. Mike Keener was born on January 7,1942 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. His parents were Ashley Jack and Mary Agnes Keener who have preceded him in death. Mike grew up in Kalamazoo and attended St. Augustine Catholic School. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1959 and he enlisted in the Michigan Army National Guard. In 1967, Mike married his love, Barbara, and they celebrated 55 years of marriage on November 25, 2022. They have a daughter, Kristen, who lives near them in Scottsdale. Mike loved and was especially proud of his two granddaughters, Rylan (18) and Quinn (14), and his faithful companion, toy Australian Shepherd, Josie, was never far from his side. Mike is also survived by three sisters, Joan Keener Davis, Ruth Keener Greene, Sharon Keener Nemmers, and a brother Thomas Patrick Keener, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Ashley Keener. Mike worked in the Graphics Arts industry. In South Bend, Indiana he and Barbara owned and operated Keener Printing & Lithography, Inc. until their retirement in 2003. They moved to Hilton Head, South Carolina and enjoyed the ocean and played a lot of golf. Soon the grandchildren called and Mike and Barb moved to Scottsdale, Arizona to be near and cheer softball and soccer with Rylan and Quinn and Mike became forever known as "Poppie". A Celebration of Mike's life is being planned in Scottsdale in the Spring of 2023. https://www.messingermortuary.com/obituary/Alan-Keener
