Achim Ostertag

Achim passed away at his home on January 1, 2009. He was born in Konstanz, Germany on December 12, 1956 and moved to Kalamazoo in 1959. Achim took pride in being a physically fit hard worker. He worked for many years in construction. He was passionate about music and loved playing the guitar. He enjoyed fishing, collecting guitars, and socializing. He loved children and made a difference in the lives of Sam, Stephan, Nikki, Brittney and Tyler. He is survived by his mother Elsbeth Harter (Werner), and his siblings Ralf Ostertag (Taj), Ilona Ulrich (Jerry), Brigitte Miller, Peter Ostertag (Blackie), and Michael Ostertag (Patricia) . Also surviving are his nieces and nephews Carmen Needham (Ryan), Mandolynn Ostertag (Kyle), Chad Ostertag (Jodie), Tara Parent (Mike) and Alex Ulrich. He has four great nieces. He was preceded in death by his father Kurt and his nephew Andrew Miller. Please join the family in Celebration of Achim's life on Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with a Ceremony of Memories being held at 4:30 PM at Taco Bob's Corporate Office at 4211 E. Centre Ave. Portage, MI 49002. Food and refreshments will be served. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Kalamazoo Valley Habitat for Humanity.
