Timothy Glinski

Tim Glinski, 74, of Douglas, MI, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Tim was born on April 30, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, to Lorraine Luketic. He was adopted by Thaddeus (Ted) and Marie Glinski (Matlock) shortly after birth and raised with love in the Brantwood neighborhood of Highland, Indiana. Tim is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Mary (Murphy), his son Dan (wife Stephanie Collier) of Manchester, CT, his daughter Katy of Munster, IN, and his cherished grandchildren: Audrey, Emmett and Emmy.

Tim completed his schooling at Our Lady of Grace and Bishop Noll Institute, graduating in 1967. Following this, he pursued higher education by attending John Carroll University, located just outside of Cleveland, Ohio, before returning to Purdue University–Calumet. In 1988, Tim earned his Juris Doctor from the Atlanta Law School and graduated as the Valedictorian.

Tim began his successful career at IBM in 1974. Through hard work, dedication, and ability to create his niche within the company, he held various management positions, ultimately achieving the title of Program Director until his retirement in 2014. Upon retirement, Tim enjoyed exploring the beauty of Western Michigan through photography of nature and enjoying the tranquility of the water as an avid angler. He also became involved in local politics, serving on the Downtown Development Association (DDA) and then later as Village President for Douglas, where he aimed to make a positive impact on his community.

Notably, he embarked on a new chapter in his life as a writer, which soon turned into a profound passion. Specializing in creative non-fiction, Tim poured his heart and soul into the craft and found inspiration from his personal life experiences. His work and talents were recognized when he was invited to participate multiple times in the prestigious Kennedy Center Playwriting program. He also took great pride in his membership with the Chicago Dramatists and the Dramatist Guild of America, where he found a community that shared his love for storytelling.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am Thursday (April 11) at Riverside Cemetery in Saugatuck.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Wednesday (April 10) at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street.

In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland.
