Marjorie (Slikkers) Slater, age 73 of Holland, died Monday November 2, 2015.

She was born and raised in Holland, to the late Dennis and Gertrude Slikkers. She graduated from Cedar Lake Academy in 1960. She attended Andrews University for 3 years, there she met her husband James Slater. The two were married in 1963. After living in various areas of the country, she and her husband moved back to Holland in 1989. Marjorie worked as a Food Service Director for various health care and educational facilities. She was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church were she was active in many roles. Marjorie loved singing, quilting and crafts, and freelance food catering. She always had a high standard for all that she did, in work and in life.

Surviving are her husband of 52 years James Slater of Holland; children Jeannine Dawson of Holland, Jim and Jennifer Slater II of Grand Haven, and Julie and Matt Rawls of Keller, TX. Also surviving are grandchildren; Steven Dawson, Jenna Dawson, Bradley Slater, Abigail Slater, Grant Rawls, Aleksandr Rawls, brother D. Gerit and Deb Slikkers, Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 4:00 pm at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 11279 East Ottogan. Officiating will be Pastor Gene Hall. Visitation will be held on Friday 5-8 pm at the Mulder Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes 188 West 32nd Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the Seventh-day Adventist Church School.
