Maria Hernandez

Maria Hernandez, age 80, of Holland, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

Maria was born in Laredo, Texas and moved to Michigan at a young age with her husband Uvaldo. They had 9 children together. She worked at Walters Gardens for over 30 years. She devoted her life to her children. She had a great sense of humor and was a very strong, brave, fearless woman who had been through many tough times in her life and yet still managed to keep her head held high with the strength of our Lord. She had a green thumb and was passionate about flowers, plants and birds. She enjoyed cooking, camping, taking care of her plants and playing bingo. Maria will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren and tiny, her beloved Chihuahua.

Maria is survived by her loving children, Uvaldo Hernandez Jr., Marcy (Randy) Baker, Jerry Hernandez, Tony (Jeanette) Hernandez, Rene (Diana) Hernandez, Marina (Macario) Ramirez-Matias, Naomi (Pedro) Lopez, Conrad (Tracy) Hernandez, Laura (Javier) Compean; thirty grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and extended family.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, April 12, from 2:00pm to 4:00PM, at the Dykstra Funeral Home - Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue, Holland. Private interment will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
