Life Story / Obituary

Kathryn F. Holland, of Scotts passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the age of 83. Kathryn was born on November 5, 1935 in Kalamazoo. She was the daughter of Samuel and Ann (Recupero) Mortellaro. Kathryn graduated in 1954 from the St. Augustine Catholic High School. She later married Robert Holland on October 5, 1957. She worked for over 30 years at Midwest Fasteners. Kathryn is described by her family as being very kind, outgoing, nurturing, thoughtful, family oriented and someone that was very proud of her Sicilian heritage. She enjoyed her time with family and friends, as well as working out at Curves.

Kathryn is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert; three children: Mark (Marion) Holland, of IN; Annie (Joe Tsui) Mathis, of Kalamazoo; Judy (Jeff) Seymour, of Scotts; six grandchildren: Tara (Chris) Hebeler, of Stevensville; Cassandra (Jon) Overstreet, of MO; Travis Mathis, of Grand Rapids; Hannah Mathis, of Grand Rapids; Dylan Seymour, of Portage and Alex Seymour, of Portage; one great granddaughter, Hailey Hebeler. She is also survived by her siblings: Andrew (Barbara) Mortellaro, of Kalamazoo; Frances (Diale) Taliaferro, of RI; brother and sister in-laws: David (Carole) Holland, of OK; Richard (Jenell) Holland, of LA; Bev Mortellaro, of Detroit; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Ann Mortellaro; brother, James Mortellaro; brother and sister-in-law: Charles (Kitty) Holland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 11th at 11am at the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. A gathering for friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church beginning at 10am. Entombment will be held at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
