Gertrude Emma (Ebel) Garbrecht, age 88, went home to be with her Lord on October 7, 2015. Born July 27, 1927 to William and Gertrude (Styx) Ebel. Gertrude married Carl B. Garbrecht, also of West Olive, on May 24, 1947.

Gertrude worked in a sewing factory during WWII, making army uniforms. She retired from Johnstone Supply. Gertrude loved to paint pictures. She was a charter member of West Olive Christian Reformed Church and was very active teaching Sunday school and GEMS.

Gertrude is survived by her husband of 68 years, Carl, and their three children, Susan (Henry) Espinoza of Custer, MI, Joan (Leo) Gordillo of Zeeland and Cal (Mary) Garbrecht of Grand Haven; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren, her brother Edward (Joan) Ebel; sister, Betty (Robert) Overkamp and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Francis Ebel, William (Connie) Ebel, Anton (Pauline) Ebel, and by a granddaughter, Marlene Espinoza.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 10, at 2:00 pm at West Olive Christian Reformed Church with Pastors Jonathon DeRuiter and Mark Stevenson officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service from 1pm until 2pm. Burial will be at Lakeshore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Olive Christian Reformed Church.
