Esther J. Faber, age 79, of Holland, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 29, 2015.
She was one of five daughters born to Edward and Jennie Van Hoven. She graduated from South High School in 1953, and later married Jack Faber August 9, 1957.
In 1971 they moved to the Holland area. Esther and Jack found a home at Harderwyk Christian Reformed Church where she became involved in many organizations including the building committee and helped with the design of the interior of an addition to the church. She had several other interest’s outside of her church which included starting a petition for bike paths in the Park Township area. She had a love for gardening and was a long time member of the Holland Garden Club where she won several awards. Esther enjoyed sports as well and played tennis in a local women’s league. She also loved traveling with Jack and her family. Esther was not only passionate about her faith but her family as well. Spending time with her family was most important to her including her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Sadly Esther suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, she will be missed but never forgotten by all those who survive her.
Surviving are husband Jack Faber, children: Michael (Kathy) Faber, Barbara (Michael) VanderPloeg, John (Rhonda) Faber, all of Holland; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are sisters Betty Vander Meer, Barbara De Hoek both of Grand Rapids, Linda (Boyd) Berends of Zeeland; brothers and sisters –in-law; Kathleen (Hardy) Ritsema of Laguna Woods, CA .,Gordon (Kathy) Faber of Sparta and Robert (Deannie) Faber of Jenison, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday July2, 2015 at 11:00 am at Harderwyk Ministries. Officiating will be Pastors John Burden and Mary Dewitt. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday July1, 2015 at the Northwood Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Home Inc. from 6-9 pm.
