Loving grandfather of Kenneth Gobbi, Gina (Eric) Velasquez, Michael (Christine) Kacirek, Katrina Kacirek, Amy (Brad) Cothren, David Gobbi Jr., Logan Krueger, Arianna Krueger, Jesse Krueger, Montana Krueger, and Olivia Krueger. Further survived by 6 great-grandchildren other relatives and friends.
Dominic, always put others first. His organizational skills helped mold the life of his children. People speak of Dom as, “ a kind, kind man”, always soft spoken, he was never one to raise his voice. Even when it came to disciplining his children, he had a way with words that was more torturing than if he acted like a normal parent and would scream and yell.
His military life was his lifeline. Every Sunday was family day. After church and brunch at the officers club he always took the children on an adventure. Often it was an educational experience depending on where the family was stationed. Dom instilled in his children that family was most important above everything. His harshest word was "Holy Mackerel".
Dom’s true colors blossomed while stationed in Duluth, Minnesota. He became an outdoorsman. His love for fishing carried him through life. His trips to Alaska for salmon and down to San Diego for deep sea fishing were some of his highlights. Another major event in his life was the invitation to be a guest on the Nov 4, 2017 Stars and Strips Honor Flight. He was accompanied by his Grandson Jesse where he was able to visit many monuments and pay his respects to other veterans at Arlington Cemetery.
If Dom had a second life he would come back as John Wayne… his love for western movies and old tv series carried him through his last days.
Family and friends will gather to Honor the Memory of Dominic at 3:00 PM Monday, December 10, 2018 at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery 21731 Spring Street Union Grove, WI 53182.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, Inc. would greatly be appreciated.
