Life Story / Obituary

Print

Bonnie Marie (Woodwyk) Whitaker, age 55 of Holland, Michigan left us on Sunday, April 14 after her hard-fought battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends. While we have heavy hearts, she has joined her father Dale who preceded her in death.

Bonnie was born on April 19, 1968. She grew up in Holland and graduated from Hamilton High School. She worked at Lifesavers for 15 years where she met Ken. In years to come they were blessed with their daughter, Rebecca. Bonnie spent many beautiful, enjoyable days at Sandy Pines with her family and friends. She was a baseball fanatic and a scrapbooking sister. Bonnie enjoyed helping others in her 17-year career as a pharmaceutical tech at North Ottawa Community Hospital. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed dining out. Bonnie was kind and outgoing; she made new friends everywhere she went.

Survived by her mother, Betty Jane Woodwyk, her brother ‘Big’ Del (Michelle) Woodwyk, sister Vicki (Ron) Klock, daughter Rebecca Marie Whitaker, husband Kenneth Randy Whitaker, son Weston and wife Carla Rewa, grandson Julius Rewa, granddaughter Josephine Rewa and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving family members. Bonnie leaves behind many special friends who will miss her dearly. Deb and Ed Donnelly were among her closest.

To honor Bonnie’s memory, we are holding a celebration of her life at 11:30 am, Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Dykstra Funeral Homes-Mulder Chapel. We invite all to wear orange and blue because Bonnie was a devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers. Burial will be in Plummerville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Mulder Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to Compassionate Heart Ministries, 404 Centerstone Ct., Zeeland, MI 49464
