Robert Hampson

Bob Hampson, age 75, of Holland passed away peacefully at Holland Hospital October 3, 2013. Bob was born on January 4, 1938 in Detroit to Jack & Peg Hampson. He lived in Birmingham, Michigan and graduated from Birmingham High School in 1957.

Married to Jean (Vanderkerck) Hampson on July 23, 1960, Bob attended Ferris State College and Western Michigan University and was president of Hampson Manufacturing until 1980.

Bob and Jean co-owned Stonegate Antiques and Custom Furniture from 1980 to 1998. They built a home in Douglas, Michigan in 1999 and moved back to Holland in July 2012.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Jean; children Robert C. Hampson of Grand Rapids, Dan and Bonnie (Hampson) Vander Veen of Holland; sister Peggy (Hampson) and Stafford Keegin of Holland; grandchildren Kyle and Lindsey O’Connor of Holland; and cousin Carol and Lockwood Merriman of Wenham, MA; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Monday, October 7 at 11 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 555 Michigan Ave., Holland with the Rev. Jennifer Adams officiating. Visitation will begin at the church at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers memorials contributions may be made to Harbor Humane Society or American Lung Association.
