Evelyn Morrow-Smith

Evelyn Morrow-Smith, age 97, of Bradley, IL. passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Provena Heritage Village Nursing Home in Kankakee, IL. She was born on June 30, 1914 in Warsaw, IN. the daughter of Charles and Lena Frantz. On June 30, 1931 Evelyn married Robert Morrow who passed away on May 23, 1979. She then married Elton Smith on April 18, 1989 who passed away on November 15, 1995. Evelyn worked in the sewing department at Overall Factory in Kankakee and then at Roper in Bradley retiring in 1964. She is a 50 plus year member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley, IL., was a lifetime member of the Bradley American Legion Auxillary, lifetime member of the Bradley VFW Auxillary, 60 year member of the Women of the Moose, member of the Kankakee Senior Citizens, the Bradley-Bourbonnais Senior Citizens, Twilight Twirlers Square Dance Group, and the Triple K Square Dance Group. Evelyn’s favorite pastimes were Square Dancing, playing cards, and fishing and only stopped doing so at the tender age of 90 due to an unfortunate loss of sight. After her sudden blindness she moved into Provena Heritage Village in Kankakee, IL. for her last 7 plus years.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters Patricia (James) Hunter of Kankakee, IL. and Betty Chambers of Houston, TX., her step-children Roger (Reta) Smith of Arkansas and Calvin (Peggy) Smith of Bourbonnais, IL., a grandson Robert Hunter of Bradley, IL., granddaughters Valrie (Michael) Chambers-Todd of Houston, TX. and Wendy (Steve) Kahler of Elizabethtown, PA., 8 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, a sister Lauretta Parr, and sveral nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alderman Robert Morrow, her husband Elton Smith, a daughter Linda Morrow, granddaughter Ann Hunter, son-in-law Robert Chambers, brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Ellen Frantz, step-son Gary Smith, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Leon and Gladys Arment, and a brother-in-law Richard Parr,

A time of gathering will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 9am-11:30am at Schreffler Life Story Funeral Homes Kankakee Chapel.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 12 noon at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bradley, IL.

In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Joseph's catholic Church, Hospice of Kankakee Valley, or to Provena Heritage Village would be appreciated.
