Bernice Monacelli

Bernice Monacelli, 82, of Bradley, Il. Passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Bernice was born on October 22, 1929 in Kankakee, IL. to Jenny Spoto and John Meli. She married Tony Monacelli on May 6, 1950 in Bradley, Il. He passed away on August 24, 1996.

After graduating from St. Joseph Seminary and Marycrest Business School, Bernice worked at Sears and Scotland Food [Thifty Mart] as an accounting clerk. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for most of her life. Bernice loved puzzles and word games, but especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter, Ginny Osenga, one son, Nicholas Monacelli. both of Kankakee, IL. two brothers and one sister-in-law, Nick and Elsie Meli and George Meli all of Kankakee, IL., one sister and brother-in-law, Rosie & Don Tomecko of Mesa, AZ., five grandchildren Nick Monacelli Jr., Nathan Monacelli, Sara Crain, Josh Osenga and Jayme Monacelli and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, son Vince, sisters, Connie Page, Josephine Held, Katie Harms, and brothers Sam, Paul, Joe and Frank Meli

A Gathering will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2012 from 12:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Life Story Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Family Wishes or The Salvation Army.
