Esther Reck

Esther Reck, age 93, of Kankakee, IL. passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Provena Heritage Village in Kankakee, IL. Esther was born on December 1, 1918 in Kankakee, IL. the daughter of Steve and Luba Christopher. She married Leonard Reck on April 13, 1941. Esther worked for 17 years at Domestic Linens and for many years at Shapiro in Kankakee, IL. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kankakee, IL., former volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital having served 8372 hours, and enjoyed reading and puzzles.

Esther is survived by her son Leonard D. (Nancy) Reck of Kankakee, IL., grandchildren; Lenny (Peggy) Reck, Lanen Reck, Penny Reck, and Scott Reck, great-grandchildren; Jamie (Thad) Loar, Jason Reck, J.R. Lantz, Pete Reck, Brit Billideau, Nick Parks, Tyler Parks, Alicia Forbes, Don Forbes, Ava Holley, and Lance Pangle, great-great-grandchildren; Norah Loar, Olivia Billideau, Taylor Bonds, Cameron Forbes, Chase Forbes, and Courtney Forbes, brothers; Pete Christopher, Socrates Christopher, George Christopher, sister Chris Hill and a dear friend Sandy Rohr.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers; Paul, John, and Harry Christopher, sisters; Francis Falter and Mary Boudreau, and a grandson Stevie Reck.

A time of gathering will take place on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 1pm until the time of services at 3pm at Schreffler Life Story Funeral Homes Kankakee Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Paul’s Luther would be appreciated.
