William C. Svec, 78, of Bourbonnais passed away at his home Feburary 2, 2010. He was born Feburary 13, 1931 the son of Frank and Lillian(Martinek) Svec in Chicago. On January 19, 1957 he married Alice M. Belina in Chicago at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Catholic Church.Mr. Svec was employed by Holsum Bread Company as a salesman for 26 yrs and was a crossing guard for the Bourbonnais School Dist. for the past 11 yrs. He served in the United States Army as a medic during the Korean War earning the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with 2 bronze service stars and the National Defense Service Medal.Bill was a member of Maternity BVM Catholic Church, the local 734 union and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed fishing was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed playing cards (especially poker) and games on his computer. He is survived by his wife of Bourbonnais; sons- Gregory Svec of Springfield, Martin (Carrie) Svec of Addison and Kevin (Denna)Svec of Surprise, AZ. Grandchildren: Richard, Kaitlin, LeeAnn and Abigail; several nieces and nephews; sister Mary(Robert) Kec of Frankfort.Bill is preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in law: Martin and Vera Belina; Brothers: Frank (Lillian) Svec, Joseph (Violet) Svec and a sister: Sister Mary Ruthelda Svec.
