My Dad, my buddy, my protector, my hero,
My heart is broken. To some you might be gone, but to me you will always live on. I have truly been blessed.
We will never forget your beautiful smile, calming demeanor, "Astro laugh", and most of all gracious love.
Sweet memories of you will sustain us and for you, we will prevail.
I miss you, I love you, I want you back.
Until we meet in Heaven---xoxoxoxo Cyn

Ah, memories: Brings up many thoughts and images from school days to the present time. Some of the great cars that Bill tended with loving care, the appearance of those lovely Brown sisters, my Dad teasing, "is you Fanny Brown?", and so many parties!
Bill was one great guy - and still a great pal in my mind.

Vannye and Cindi, Although I didn't know Bill as much as I do you I certainly got to have the experience of living in the apartment he built for his mother. It was the greatest place and I enjoyed living there. I always loved the 'built in's' in the bedroom. I know he will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to all of you. With love Mary

I can't remember a time when Bill and Vannye haven't been part of our lives. The DuChanes are part of our family, whether they like it or not! Every Christmas Eve there was the Country Club, every graduation, shower, engagement party, wedding- they have always been there. I guess we all look for occasions to celebrate!
So many memories- it is hard to pick out just one. I think the thing that I admired the most about Bill, other than the fact that he and Vannye have included my mother on many of their "dates" in the past few years, was his attitude. He just didn't complain. If something came up that wasn't just right, he dealt with it. In business he came up with solutions. In his personal life, I can't remember once time that he talked about himself. He was eager to talk about his daughters and grandchildren, or your children and what they might be doing. But I don't think I ever heard him talk about himself. Many of the things I read on this website, I never knew- because he didn't make himself the topic of conversation. A wonderful man,a quiet sense of humor, a good friend- I will miss you Bill. So Much Love, Susan

While not actually related...he was always "Uncle Bill".
Vannye lee tells the story of when I was 4 or 5, I asked if I could "karate Uncle Bill"...because he was not much bigger than I was at the time.
My favorite story is when Bill broke his Grandchildren from calling Vannye "BooBoo"...Ask Vannye, she tells it best!
Suzette and I have discussed all of the fun that our Parents had and they made it seems so easy! Work hard...play hard...they were the best!
A wise man once told me that you can guage the character of an individaul by the company that he keeps...
Uncle Bill...Special Family...Special Friends...Special Man!

Wild Willie, always with a smile. I remember last year at one of our family gatherings Bill proudly displayed a sports jacket my mother had given him after my father's death. He looked pretty snazzy in it and he said to me, "what a nice jacket, these never go out of style, fits me fine", and then with a twinkle in his eye he said, "may even fit me better then your Dad". I just gave him a hug and told him I didn't know about that, but I certainly was glad he was getting some use out of it, and I was sure my Dad was happy about him having it. I will miss Bill at these get these family parties, he will forever hold a special place in my heart.

I met Bill throught my then-girlfriend's parents, lois and Nellis Van Krevelen. My sense was that a group of people, including the Van Krevelens, the DuChanes, the Kerrs, the Kroezes, and many others had all grown to adulthood together. Their friendships were deep and important to them all.
Twenty three years ago, when I showed Bill the century old house that we had just purchased, the builder in him quickly emerged. After surveying the decaying hulk, his only question was, "Have you signed anything yet?".
Bill was a terrific person and will be greatly missed by all of us who had the pleasure to know him.
