Life Story / Obituary

Print

Mark E. Walters, age 55, of Zeeland, went to be with his Lord and Savior after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the University of Michigan Medical Center.

Mark was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1978 and graduated from Ferris State College with honors with a Refrigeration and Cooling Degree. Mark was employed at Bruischat Refrigeration, Bruischat Environmental, Sietech, Edmar Mfg. and Consumers Energy. Mark was often thought of as an inventor because of his technical expertise and problem solving mind. He was happiest with a pile of parts, a box of tools and a good reference. He was kind, loyal and non-judgmental. His friends were many, and foes, were there any? Mark loved his family and was always proud of his children.

He is survived by his wife Tammy and children: Nicole and Andrew; parents:Roland and Kay Walters of Big Rapids; father-in-law: Vernon and Pat Nothdurft of Dowagiac; brothers and sister: Mike and Kathy Walters of Mount Pleasant; Chris and Laura Walters of Clarksville; Cyndie Walters of Big Rapids; brothers-in-law: Gary Nothdurft of San Francisco; Mark and Lisa Nothdurft of Sodus, MI; Eriks and Kim Bers of North Liberty, Indiana; many aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Nancy Grigsby-Bers in 2012.

His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known him.

A memorial service will be 12:00 pm, Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3990 112th Avenue in Holland.

Reverend Christin Vasilenko Fawcett will be officiating.

Burial will be in North Shore Memory Gardens.
