Virginia Gumser

Virginia Gumser, age 89, of Holland passed away Friday, September 26, 2014 at Holland Hospital.

Virginia was employed at A.D. Bos as manager in their kitchen, cared for the vending machines at Holland High School and was cashier at Windmill Island. She enjoyed going with her family to their property in Baldwin, MI on the weekends. She spent many hours sewing, quilting and crafting. She was preceded in death by her son James Gumser in 1967 and a grandson Brian Gumser.

She is survived her husband Dean of 72 years and children: Sharon and Elbridge Hamlin of Holland, Nancy and Bill Gifford of Hamilton, Michael and Debra Gumser of Zeeland; grandchildren: Alan and Chris Rutledge, Adam and Heather Rutledge, Chad and Tammy Kragt, Nesa and Jeff Elenbaas, Jamie and Steve DeWitt, Jason Gumser; 7 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Grace and Paul Bush of Zephyrhills, FL, Lyle and Joanne Carpenter of Jenison, MI, Wilma Wilson in Zephyrhills, FL, Jeanette Van Der Mei of Zephyrhills, FL, Fred and Janet Carpenter of Florida; many nieces, nephews and cousins

A visitation will be from 3-5 PM, Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Dykstra Funeral Home – Mulder Chapel 188 West 32nd Street in Holland.

Cremation has taken place.

Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Holland.
