Robert “Bob” Weller, age, 84, of Holland, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, Thursday, August 14, 2014.

Bob was born in Graafschap to John (Jack) and Martha (Mulder) Weller and graduated from Holland High School, class of 1948. He retired from the Holland City Fire Department, where he served as a fireman and mechanic for 30 years. For many years, Bob worked many part-time jobs including helping his brother, Tom, at Weller Fire and Safety. Bob was a member of First Reformed Church and was the church custodian for 15 years. He was also a lifetime member of the Holland Elks.

Bob volunteered at the Community Soup Kitchen at Western Seminary for several years.

Bob was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jillian Klingenberg in 2003, great granddaughter, Kaytlin Cruz in 2013, and brothers, Glen Weller, Clayton Weller, and Tom Weller.

He is survived by his wife, Bonna of 64 years; children, Jim and Sherri Weller of Holland, Carla and Jay Nienhuis of Holland, Ruth Hofer of Zeeland, and Kathy and Bryon Simmons of Cedar Falls, IA; 11 grandchildren, Scott Weller (Matthew), Rebecca Weller (Kylee Cruz), Christina and Jeff Mooney (Connor and Cailey), Laura Nienhuis, Harris Klingenberg (Logan, Marley, and Alayna), Susan and Jared Blaszak (Lillian and Lucas), Winston Hofer, Perrin Hofer, Nicholas Simmons, Leah Simmons, and Eric Simmons; sister, Marge and LaVern Barkel of Holland; brother, Ray and Doris Weller of Holland; sisters-in-law, Dorie Weller of Holland, Hope Weller of Concord, CA, Arvilla Boere of Holland, Donna and Bob Borgman of Holland, and Arletta Klomparens of Holland; several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Funeral services will be 10 am Tuesday at First Reformed Church, 630 State Street, with the Rev. Dr. Daniel Gillett officiating.

Burial and committal services will be in Graafschap Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 pm Monday at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland.
