Clara Burge

Clara M. Burge, 71, of Kankakee passed away July 8, 2014 in Kankakee, IL. She was born August 2, 1942 in St.Anne, IL to Riley and Helen (Simmons) Benjamin. Clara married James M. Burge in 1968 in Kankakee, Illinois. She was a loving homemaker and belonged to the Marycrest Cubs Club. She enjoyed gardening and reading, but her greatest enjoyment was with her children and grandchildren.

Clara is survived by her 5 sons and daughters in law; Michael and Julie of Roanoke, IN, Larry and Mylene of Benton, IL, Herbert and Susan of W. Palm Beach, FL, Andrew and Becky of Bourbonnais, IL and Christopher and Angela of Limestone, IL. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 Great Great grandchildren, 2 brothers and sisters in law; Sidney and Sharon Benjamin of Manteno, Roger and Jeannie Benjamin of Bourbonnais, 2 brothers-in-law; Charles and Padget Dix and Gary and Carol Platte of Missouri, her mother and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, one brother; Larry and a sister, June Moranz, his great nephew; Aaron, a grandchild and one brother in law; Bill.

A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Life Story Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. A second gathering will be Sunday in Dix, IL from 1:00p.m to 3:00 p.m.
