Zachariah Hayes

Hayes, Zachariah John 4/27/1987 - 2/3/2019 was a free spirit with an enormous heart. Born in Norway, MI on April 27, 1987, he was a classic Yooper. He believed it was his destiny to help those in need. He wanted to travel the world to do just that. He served at an orphanage in Honduras while on a mission trip with a church group. He was supposed to return this year. Instead, they will be having a mass in his honor. Zach also helped the poor in less fortunate areas of Argentina. Zach came to Kalamazoo in 2014 to help his Aung Peggy maintain rental property. He also enjoyed helping his neighbors here and working with the Building Blocks program. Zach spent much time with his nieces and nephews, sometimes hunting fossils. He played football for the Artic Blast. Zach spent all the time he could in the woods where he was at one with nature. Zach's life was taken on February 3, 2019, by those he was trying to help. Due to the extenuating circumstances surrounding his death, there will be no funeral. However, the family will hold a memorial service and a celebration of his life at a day yet to be determined. Zachariah is survived by his father Peter Hayes, mother Mary LaMarch, sisters Sarah (Michael) Eversole and Magdalene Hayes, nieces Amery Eversole and Chloe Eversole, nephews Omar Eversole, Elijah Hayes and Josiah Hayes, great aunt Virginia Forbes Haycock, and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who he considered family.
