Yvonne Ellis

Yvonne Lola Ellis, age 85, of Portage, MI went home to her Heavenly Father Tuesday evening, November 28, 2017 at the Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Vonnie was born November 18, 1932 in Charlotte, MI the daughter of Max and Pauline (Reed) Hill. She was employed with the Upjohn Company for 15 years as Library Clerk and was a member of the Pathfinder Church. Vonnie enjoyed playing golf, croquet, reading and square dancing. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. On May 30, 1953 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Udelbert "Jack" Ellis who preceded her in death on February 11, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Robert Varela; and a sister, Patsy Chamberlain. Vonnie is survived by her children, Cathy (Scott) Krueger, Paula (David) Williams, Greg (Kathy) Ellis, Pam Varela; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin (Agnes) Hill; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, December 2 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre. Friends may meet the family Saturday from 12:30-2:00pm prior to the service at the Portage Chapel. Private family interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
