Life Story / Obituary
Wilma “Rags” Hess, 81 of Aroma Park, died Saturday March 15th at her home. Visitation and service will be held on Saturday March 22 at St Paul’s Episcopal Church, Kankakee where she was a member for more than 50 years. Visitation will begin at 9:30am until the service at 11:00am. Father Israel Anchan will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Church columbarium immediately following the service. Arrangements by Schreffler Funeral Home of Kankakee.
She was the daughter of Fred and Pearl Raguse of Kankakee and married Charlie Hess of Momence in 1955. She is survived by her husband and their four children Stephen of Houston TX, Jeffery (Dawn) of North Platte NE, Mary Pat (Charles) Anderson of Brookfield, IL, and Elizabeth (Julian Rowe) Chicago, IL. She had four grandchildren Lauren, Abby, Jessica, and CJ and was loved by many nieces and nephews.
Wilma graduated from Kankakee High School and was a youth counselor at the YWCA. In addition to being a devoted mother, she contributed her many talents to community service and her church. Some of her activities included PTA, Cubs Scout, Brownie’s, Women’s Club of Kankakee, Church Women United, Prison Ministry, and Episcopal Church Women.
