William E. “Bill” Green made every use of the life God gave him for 94 years. He was reunited with Stella, his angel-in-waiting on February 9, 2018. Bill was born April 5, 1923 in Follansbee WV. His mother, Olive C Green, passed away in 1937, his father was killed in an industrial accident, leaving Bill and his sister Jean to be lovingly raised by his beloved Aunt Connie and Uncle Harvey Carey.

After playing baseball and running track in high school, Bill joined the Marines in 1943. He served at Guadalcanal, New Caledonia, and Guam, achieving the rank of sergeant. Stateside he was stationed at Cherry Point, NC. Marine base, where he met fellow marine, Stella Schroeder on a blind date. They were married Oct 12, 1945 in Racine but lived in North Carolina till 1947. While in North Carolina, Bill played AA minor league baseball with the Swansonboro, NC. Rebels, where he was an ace pitcher and center fielder. After returning to Racine, Bill built a home for his family, which now included daughter, Sharon and son Bill.

Bill enjoyed life to the fullest with many skills and interests. He and Stella square-danced, bowled, golfed, gardened, traveled and made great wine. There was never a sport Bill couldn’t master. They also were long time members of the Dairy Statesman and Sweet Adeline Barbershop groups. After retiring as a job superintendent for Korndoerfer Construction Co., Bill built a cabin in Townsend WI. They fished, hunted and enjoyed the beauty and peace of up north. As avid Packer, Badger, and Brewer fans they enjoyed many outings with friends and family. Sadly, Stella passed away March 8, 2001.

Bill is survived by daughter Sharon (Chuck) Shouldice and son Bill (Midge) Green, grandchildren Andy and Mark Shouldice, grandson Jeff Green, (fiancé Jenny Schaefer) and granddaughter Jennifer(Ben) Williams. Great grandchildren are, Jordan Green, Jessica Green, Weston Williams and Brooke Williams and great- great -grandson, Thomas Lantz. Also survived by nephews Don and Greg Schroeder, sister-in-law Jennifer Schroeder and special friend Bernice Bolton. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, parents, sister Jean Borkowski, in-laws Rudy and Mary Schroeder, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harvey and Joyce Schroeder, and brother-in-law Robert Schroeder.

A memorial service and celebration will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 10, 2018. Visitation from 10:00-11:30am with the service to follow. Interment with Full Military Honors will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Bills memory to: Stars and Stripes Honor Flight Inc. P.O.
