William "Bill" May Jr.

William “Bill” May Jr., passed away unexpectedly at home in San Diego, CA on July 8, 2017.

Bill was born in Alliance, OH to William and Dorothy (Nee: Davis) May on May 7, 1943. He graduated from Alliance High School in 1960. Bill joined the Navy followed by the Army National Guard and retired in 2006 as a Staff Sergeant.

Bill has lived in Ohio, Wisconsin and California. He was a huge VW fanatic and often spent time with family and friends at camp-outs, car shows, and VW races. In his spare time he enjoyed working on his classic VW’s including his 1965 bus named Kermit and 1965 Beetle named Jigsaw. Bill truly had an impact on everyone and has always been appreciated for his energy, sense of humor and willingness to help others.

Bill is preceded in death by many friends and family including his parents; sisters, Deborah Heltman, Patricia May and Karen Hartline; nephew, David May; niece, Bobbi Jo Hartline; sister-in-law, Vicky May; and stepdaughter, Ana Dosskey.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Janet May; his ex-wife, Sheryl May; his brother, Robert “Bo” May; sister, Joyce (David) Salm; daughters, Valerie (Ron) Graydon, Stephanie May (Joseph Egerson); son, Daniel May (Kristi Petersen); stepdaughter, Alicia (Sergio) Guerrero; grandchildren, Jacob Graydon, Jevin Graydon, Joshua May, Elizabeth May, Soren May, Sergio Guerrero, Julia Guerrero; great-grandchild, Ava Marie Dosskey; stepgrandchildren, Justin Paul Powers, Stefi Dosskey; and may other family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Holiday Park in Carlsbad, CA on Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M.
