Bill Hollabaugh, 88, a lifetime resident of Sumner, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 28, 2013, surrounded by his family at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant.

He was born in 1925 in Elmhall, son of the late Ross and Inez (Connor) Hollabaugh. He married Esther Jean Palmer on April 16, 1941 and proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1944-1948. Bill spent his career as a car salesman at many different car dealerships in Gratiot County. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was very proud of his seven surviving children, William Jr. (Karen) Hollabaugh of Prudenville, Evelyn (Jerry) Allen of Sumner, Diane (Tom) Giles and Jack (Linda) Hollabaugh both of Alma, Colleen (Brian) Nickerson of Vestaburg, Julie (Mike) Thompson of McBain, and Jerry Hollabaugh and his friend Pam Rupp of Whitehouse, OH; 13 grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; his loving friend, June Maas of St. Louis; and his faithful dogs, Trail and Tippy.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife Jean in 1992; granddaughter, Lindsey Hubbard in 1991; and brother, Doug in 1964

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at Seville Church of God, 8360 Monroe Rd. Elwell 48832, with Pastor George Showers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
