Wendie Rodriquez

Wendie passed away surrounded by her family on late Tuesday evening, March 6, 2018 at her home following a short illness. She was born on February 16, 1952 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Frank D. and Virginia (Hart) Hayes. Wendie was employed in the dental field for 48 years until her recent retirement in December 2017. On December 22, 1984, she was united in marriage to Hector Rodriguez. Shortly after, they relocated to Bad Axe so she could be closer to Lake Huron. Wendie was a former member of the Bad Axe City Council for several years. She was also very active in the Stuart Neighborhood Association. She enjoyed traveling to Lake Superior in the U.P. and was an avid rock collector/hoarder. She loved animals, especially squirrels, which would eat right out of her hand. Surviving are her husband of 33 years: Hector; daughter: Shana (Darren) Bielby of Saginaw; four grandchildren: Joshua, Caleb, Lauren and Olivia; and five siblings: Nancy Hayes, Michelle (Glen) Nowak, Marybeth (Brad) Baynai, Denise (Bob) Belisle and Brian (Patty) Hayes; and several nieces and nephews. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Animal Rescue Project.
