Walter Tyler

Walter C. Tyler of Kalamazoo, MI passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 in Kalamazoo, MI at the age of 71. He was born on March 28, 1946 in Kalamazoo, MI a son of Wallace and Mable (Sanders) Tyler and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a proud of his six years of service in the Michigan Army National Guard. Walter worked for Amerigas Propane for over 35 years before retiring. He was a member of Kalamazoo Free Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling, fishing and bowling. Walter's greatest joy came from being with his family especially spending time with his grandchildren. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Mildred Tyler, and a brother, Sam Tyler. On August 2, 1969, Walter married the former Doris Hatfield who survives. Also surviving are a son, Scott (Tina) Tyler of Loraine, OH; five grandchildren, Stephanie Daquiaog, Heather Tyler, Katie Tyler, Scott Tyler, Jr. and Zachary Tyler; two great-grandchildren Rylee and Raquel Daquioag; three sisters, Maxine Steffey, Shirley Cook and Patricia Tyler; two brothers, Lloyd (Mary) Tyler and George Tyler; a special sister-in-law, Cathy Braiel; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 8th from 6-8PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. Services will be held at 11AM on Friday, February 9th at Kalamazoo Free Methodist Church, 931 W. Maple Street, with Pastor Craig Watson, officiating. Interment in Ft. Custer National Cemetery will follow services. Memorials may be directed to Loaves and Fishes.
