Wallace "Rook" Lee Diggins

Wallace “Rook” Lee Diggins, age 68, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Lakeshore Manor. Wallace was born in Racine, October 25, 1948, son of the late Richard Hugh Lee and Fannie Mae (Nee: Long) Jones.

Rook was a graduate of Washington Park High School where he was a basketball star. In his younger years he played professional softball with the Indianapolis Clowns. During his working career he was employed as a die caster. He also enjoyed fishing. Wallace was a member of the Gregg Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

He will be dearly missed by his son, Antawann Booker; stepdaughter, Tiana Sorenson; three grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild;his goddaughter, Lilith Wozniak; brother and sisters, John (Lillie) Diggins of Racine, Arlene Wilson of Phoenix, AZ, Linda Jones of Racine, Sheila Brown of San Diego, CA, Sharon Flowers of Racine, Mae Frances Mitchell and Robert Earl Jones of Oxford, MS; 5 very special friends, John Meeks, William Wilson, Truman Lambert, Ernest Cobb, John Wozniak; host of other relatives and dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017, 1:00 P.M. at Gregg Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 2237 Howe Street, with Rev. David Green officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 12:00 P.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M.
