Virginia (Penny) Perse

Age 81, died unexpectedly Sunday, September 30, 2018 at her residence. Virginia, the daughter of Edgar and Virginia (Myers) Penny, was born in Climax, MI on April 29, 1937; was a lifetime area resident and a 1955 graduate of Richland High School. She was an active homemaker raising five children. Virginia's hub for her social life in recent years was the Comstock Community Center where she enjoyed dancing especially clogging, line and square; hand bell ringing and swimming. Even though she was on the go constantly, she still had time for her family especially the grandkids. Surviving are four daughters, Cheri L. (John) Ruzza of Kalamazoo, MI, Juli A. Perse, Vicki S. Gates of Baldwin, MI and Bonni J. (Ken) Perse-Hanson of Climax, MI; her son, George L. Perse, Jr. of Bellevue, MI; nine precious grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Rosalie Phillips of Richland; her brother, Larry (Edith) Penny of Lake Havasu, AZ and her sister-in-law, Connie Penny of Richland. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Edgar Penny; brother-in-law, Skip Phillips and her former husband, George Lawrence. The Memorial Gathering to celebrate Virginia's life will be held on Saturday, October 6th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Richland Community Hall, 8985 Gull Road, Richland, MI 49083. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Virginia's honor may be directed to the Mothers Against Drunk Driving, 126 E. Kilgore Road, Portage, MI 49002 or the Kalamazoo Humane Society - Spay & Neuter Program, 4239 S. Westnedge Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI 49008.
