Virginia McFadden, 94, of Lawton MI died peacefully on April 9, 2017 at Bronson Commons in Mattawan, MI. Virginia was born April 14, 1922 in Chicago, IL. She was the third child of John and Estelle Paul. Virginia’s brothers Leo Paul and John Paul (White) preceded her in death. Of her 9 siblings, only her half-brothers Richard Patrick White, Joliet IL and Fr. Dennis White, IL are remaining. Virginia was married to William (Red) Ellsworth McFadden on April 12, 1940 in Chicago, IL. In 1952 they moved to Lawton MI where they raised their 4 children; Virginia (Robert) McFadden-Spicher, Elgin IL; Olive (Randy) McGuire, Decatur MI; William (Nancy) McFadden, Paw Paw MI; and Leslie McFadden, Lawton MI. Virginia worked in a factory in Chicago and played Women’s Pro-Baseball during WWII while her husband served in the Navy. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, designing women’s garments, gardening, and baking. At 80 years of age, she bravely fulfilled her dream of skydiving, jumping 5-6 times in Gobles, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband William on January 10, 1998 and her daughter Olive on May 1, 2014. She is survived by 3 children, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to a grave-side memorial service at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Monday, May 1st at 2:00 PM. The cemetery is located at 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, MI 49012. A reception will follow the immediately after the burial at Bill's home.
