Virginia M. Gould

Virginia (Ginny) May Gould was reunited with her husband Dean on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, from Aurora Medical Center, Kenosha. She was born in Ferndale, Michigan on May 15, 1929, daughter of the late Amedee and Elizabeth (Nee:Busch) Dupuis,

On April 7, 1951, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Dean C. Gould who preceded her in death on February 2, 2016. Theirs was a love that shined as brightly in the twilight of their lives as it had during the dawn. Each was a perfect complement to the other; Dean the grounding roots that allowed Virginia to reach higher into the sky. A timeless love, now eternal.

Virginia spent her life striving for excellence. Her competitive spirit led her to become valedictorian of her high school and a student at the University of Michigan, where she met her husband, Dean. Soon after, Ginny became a devoted wife and mother, working hard to provide her family with the kind of life and home she dreamed of as a child. While raising her four children, Ginny was proudly employed by J.I. Case Co for many years, retiring in 1989. After the loss of her daughter Patricia, Virginia adopted the role of mother again by taking in her two grandsons, raising them as her own. Ginny dedicated herself to the service of others beyond her immediate family as well through active membership in Bethania Lutheran Church, volunteering for the Thread by Thread clothing ministry, and the by chairing the program for continuing education for women through the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Virginia spread beauty everywhere she went whether through her knack for home decorating, the soft watercolor scenes of flowers and birds she loved to paint, her lush garden covered with roses, or simply through the grace of her presence. She ceaselessly cultivated her sharp intellect by attending art exhibits, consuming literature, and through occasionally heated political discussion with friends and family. She took great pride in pushing herself toward remarkable goals in physical fitness throughout her entire life. Ginny’s love for adventure inspired her world travels, though her heart remained closer to home shelling the beaches of Florida or pan-fried blue gill at the family cottage in Wisconsin’s north woods.

Surviving are her children, Susan Gould (Gilbert Gonzalez), Kristin Gleason, John (Yvonne) (Gould; grandchildren Justin Pahnturat, Dan (Katie) Gonzalez, Kelly Gleason (John-Paul Young), Tim Gleason (Monica Pacheco), Desiree (Ryan) Stookey, Summer Gould (Eric Buro), James Lubinski, Michael Lubinski; great-grandchildren, Aurora Gleason, Roland Gonzalez and Easton Stookey; son-in-law Kenneth (Melinda) Gleason; siblings Ken (Ruth) Dupuis and Phyllis J. LaFrance; brother-in-law Jerry (Mary Anne) Gould; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 31, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Bethania Lutheran Church, 4120 Wright Avenue, with Rev. Heather Bumstead and Rev. Ron Segedy officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials to the Thread by Thread Clothing Ministry at Bethania Lutheran Church or the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education (scholarships for young women) have been suggested.
