Thomas Landells, age 81 years of White Cloud, passed away on November 4, 2017 at home with Kay and daughter Terri by his side. He was born on November 16, 1935 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Thomas and Marie Landells. Tom and Kay's amazing journey is now on hold. Tom married Shirley Vernia in 1954, and she preceded him in death. They had 2 children: Alan Edward (deceased) and Terri Jo Ann who survives. Tom was a lifetime member of the Croton Legion, long time member of Eagles Club 526 Branch in Kalamazoo. Tom was a Marine, Semper Fi, and he worked for several years as a sheriff for Kalamazoo County where he earned almost perfect marksmanship medals. He retired from Eaton Fuller in Galesburg in 1998, and shortly after he and Shirley moved to White Cloud full time. Soon after Shirley and Rich passed away, Tom and Kay started their lives together. Tom fought cancers, diabetes, dementia and strokes. They fought them together. Tom's survivors include: Kay Stephens, fiancee, care giver and special love; two best buddies: Charlie and Abby; daughter, Terri; 3 grandsons: Tommy Miller of Delton, Ricky and Brie Gay, Bruce and Amy Gay, all of Kansas; 9 great-grandkids; 2 sisters: Marion Murphy "Big Sister," and Dot Landells; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Vernia; several nieces and nephews; his best friends from school: Don (Terry) Lacey, Jimmy Felke, Becky and Diane, and Tom's private baker that lived next door, Katie and her husband Steve, who are always there for us. Kay's survivors include: Denise "Tom's Kid" and her husband Bill Halfield, Don and Julie Waltz, Doug and Martha Waltz of Kalamazoo, David and Sandy Waltz of Corbin, Kentucky; 24 grandkids, 11 great-grandkids and one on the way. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, son-in-law Rick Gay, brother Colin Landells, brother-in-law-Murphy, and his best buddy Booker. Kay wants to include all of his special friends from the White Cloud Eagles, American Legion, Big Prairie Fire and Rescue, as well as Spectrum Health Hospice. Thanks to all. Services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Eagles 526 in Kalamazoo at 1:00 P.M. Another Service will be held at the Croton American Legion Post 381 on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. Memorial contributions can be made to Spectrum Health Hospice, or to Big Prairie Fire and Rescue. Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
