Surrounded by his loving family, Thomas J. Haakenson “Hawk”, age 76, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018. He was born in Racine, September 20, 1941, son of the late William and Clara (Nee: Gewalt) Haakenson.

Tom was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1960.” He proudly served in the United States Naval Reserve. In 2003, Tom married the love of his life Gale C. Krusienski, who preceded him in death. He retired from Palmer Johnson after thirty-five years of service. From an early age, Tom had a great love for sailing. He was a member of the Racine Yacht Club and was very proud of the beautiful boat he built named “Reminiscing.” He also enjoyed woodworking, traveling, starting projects (he sometimes finished), and telling great stories.

He will be dearly missed by his children, Heidi Haakenson and Heather (Stacey) Ellis; grandson, Brandon; sister, Barbara Haakenson; brother, William Haakenson, all of Racine; brother-in-law, Brian Krusienski, Chicago; and sister-in-law, Joy (Gary) Vaillancourt, Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
