Surrounded by his loving family, Theodore “Ted” J. Pier, age 92, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Racine, August 30, 1925, son of the late Lawrence and Marie (Nee: Entrop) Pier.

Ted proudly served in the United States Army 343d Infantry Regiment, 86th Division and was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant. He received the Bronze Star for bravery. Furthering his education he received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Marquette University. On February 4, 1961 he was united in marriage to Joan M. Veltus. Ted was employed as a Certified Public Accountant by Johnson and Henrickson Construction Co. for thirty years, retiring. He was a longtime member of St. Edward Catholic Church. He was also a member of American Legion Post 310, Knights of Columbus and the United Commercial Travelers. Ted was devoted to his family and cherished time spent with them.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Joan; his children, Timothy (Pegi) Pier, Thomas Pier (Sheila Pinkalla), all of Racine; grandchildren, Jason, Amanda, Rudi, Alex and 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, William (Beverley) Pier, James Pier, sister Joan (Dave Petersen) all of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 23, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Avenue, with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. Entombment with Full Military Honors will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the Maresh-Meredith & Acklam funeral home, 803 Main St. Racine, WI from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and Friday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. Memorials can be made to Knights of Columbus Council 697 or American Legion Post 310.

A special and sincere thank you to the entire staff of Bay Pointe Assisted Living facility for the exceptional attention and quality care provided to Ted during his short stay. All went above and beyond to ensure his comfort.
