Theodore(Ted)E. Jamison Jr. 81, passed away January 29, 2016 at Munson Hospice House with his family surrounding him. He was born March 12, 1934 to Theodore E. Jamison Sr. and Edna(Phlan)Jamison in Islip New York where he grew up with his family.

Ted was in the United States Air Force where he met and married his wife Janet (Jan) Jamison (Sanford) while being stationed at Empire Air Force Base. They had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 30, 2015.

He graduated from Plattsburg State University of New York with his Bachelors and Masters in teaching education and administration. After teaching 5 years at Plattsburg New York Air Force Base Ted decided to move his family back to Empire Michigan and then on to Traverse City Michigan. This is where he started his career as elementary school principle. He was the principle for Sabin Elementary School for 19 years and then from there he went on to being the principle at Interlochen Elementary for 14 years before retiring in 1993. Ted also during the summers in the early 70's was the Director of the Migrant Program in Northport.

Ted loved fishing and hunting with his buddies. He enjoyed playing on numerous baseball and basketball leagues throughout the years in Traverse City. His greatest passion was gardening every year with his family. Ted loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know and to love him.

Ted is survived by his wife Janet(Jan) Jamison, children, George Alan Jamison of Interlochen, Patti (David) Entrekin of Traverse City, Randy (Patty) Jamison of Rockford MI, Dean Jamison of Traverse City, Todd ( Rachael) Jamison of Traverse City. Grandchildren Eric (Natalie) Smith, Bradley (Meghan) Smith, Curtis Smith, Sarah Jamison, Allison Jamison, Michala Jamison, Carmin Jamison. Great-grandchildren, Stephen Curtis, Charley Smith, and two more coming this year. He also leaves behind his brothers, Richard (Nancy) Jamison, Tom (Barbara) Jamison. Sister-in-laws, Dot Fradd, Caroline Sarya. Nieces, Frances Hudson, Donna Cobb. Nephew, Cullen Jamison, and other special nieces and nephews. Also survived by his good friend of over 40 years Ralph Johnson.

Ted is preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Edna Jamison and his sister Diane Bacon, and brother-in-law Bob Fradd.

An informal celebration of life will be held at Life Story Funeral Home 752 Munson Ave. Traverse City on Saturday February 27, 2016, beginning at noon until 3:00. A brief military service will start at 3pm.
