Age 59, of Shelby, formerly of Kalamazoo passed away on December 4, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Steve was born on November 13, 1958 in Kalamazoo, the son of Jerome and Barbara Schrepper. Steve married his true love, Deborah Lynn Miller on September 16, 2000 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Steve and Deb enjoyed several anniversaries in Gatlinburg throughout the years. Steve found his second true love when he became employed by the American Youth Foundation-Camp Miniwanca as Facilities Manager. With this career move, he also gained a whole new family. This family provided so much love, support, and comfort to Steve and Deb during Steve's illness. Steve was so proud of his facilities team for stepping up during his absence. Steve also enjoyed many years of employment at Consumers Concrete Corporation. Steve also spent a short time employed at Shelby Public Schools, where he made several friends. In addition to his beloved wife, Deb, Steve is survived by his sons, Dallas Quinton Schrepper, of Dallas, Texas and Shane (Jessica) Schrepper, of Kalamazoo; Step-daughter, Edwina Smith, of Lexington, South Carolina; Grandson, John Schrepper; Brother and sister-in-law, David and Lun Schrepper, of Kalamazoo; Father-in-law, Robert Miller; Mother-in-law, Linda (Larry) Haeger; Sister-in-law, Tina (Scott) Lindeman; Brother-in-law, Donald (Mary) Hastings; Niece, Ashlee' Hastings; Nephew, Jonathon Hastings; Great-Niece, Brielle Hastings; and his cousins who he loved like brothers, Butch (Maren) Kurzer and Doug (Judy) Kurzer. Steve was preceded in death by his father and mother. Steve was a man of many talents and enjoyed many hobbies. Steve could build or fix anything. He was meticulous and took pride in everything he did. People always described Steve as "the nicest guy you will ever meet". He was always willing to help others and enjoyed doing so. He lived the American Youth Foundation's motto of "My own self, At my very best, All the time". A social gathering will be held at Camp Miniwanca on Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A service to honor Steve and celebrate the wonderful and loving man he was will be held at Camp Miniwanca on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. with a luncheon to follow.
