Stephen Patterson “Pat” Watson, 66, of Maple City died Thursday, September 17, 2015, after a short illness. He was at home with his wife and son at his side.

Pat was born May 27, 1949, in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Mary Lynn (Pettitt) and Frank Houghton Watson, III. A lifelong resident of Leelanau County, he was an alum of Glen Lake Community Schools as well as Northwestern Michigan College.

On November 8, 1975, Pat married Karen Lorraine Lepley. For 20 years, they owned and operated the Arbor Light Gift Shop in Glen Arbor. Over the years, he also worked at Kieft & Dorsey Construction, Wepking Construction and Chuck Ohlfs Total Maintenance, Inc., from which he recently retired.

Pat enjoyed watching and playing baseball. He was a big fan of the Detroit Tigers. He was also an avid reader and history buff.

Pat is survived by his wife of 40 years, Karen; son, Stephen Frank Watson; brother, Frank H. (Jan) Watson IV; sister, Megan Watson (Jeff Forrest); brother-in-law, Donald (Jani) Lepley; sisters-in-law, Sandra (Jerry) Prause; Shirley (Jerry) Solem; Deena (Bob) Hamilton and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his aunts, Marcia (Pettitt) Lee and Margaret (Pettitt) Marks, as well as numerous cousins.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents.
