SISTER ROSERITA KIMMEL, O.P.

Sister Roserita Kimmel, O.P., 85, passed away at Lakeshore Manor, Racine, WI, on Friday January 26, 2018.

Mary Jane was born January 15, 1933 to Dorsey and Rose Marie (nee: Feldpaush) Kimmel in Detroit, MI. On August 30, 1948 she joined the Racine Dominicans and at her reception in 1949 she was given the religious name Sister Roserita. She professed her first vows in 1951 and her final vows in 1957.

Sister Roserita spent many years in service to others as a teacher and/or a principal. She began her ministry in 1951 at St. John, South Milwaukee. Other places in Wisconsin where she served were St. Rose and St. Edward, Racine; St. Mary, Mineral Point; Holy Name, Kimberly; St. Peter, East Troy; St. Mary, Belgium; St. Mary, Waukesha; St. Alphonsus, New Munster; St. Sylvester, South Milwaukee; Milwaukee Public Schools; and Nativity of Our Lord, Cudahy. From 1994 to1996 she served as the Director of Housekeeping at Siena Center, Racine. She also served in Michigan and New Mexico. She moved to Siena Center in December, 2013. In January, 2018 she became a resident of Lakeshore Manor, Racine, WI.

Sister Roserita is survived by the Racine Dominican Sisters, Associates and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents.

Visitation will be in the Siena Center Chapel on Wednesday January 31, beginning at 9:00 am with a Remembering Service at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy 32. Memorials to the Racine Dominican Mission Fund have been suggested.

The Racine Dominicans would like to extend their thanks to the Supportive Living staff at Siena Center and the staff at Lakeshore Manor that cared for Sister Roserita.
