AKA Joan Hyman, passed away after a brief illness on August 6, 2018. Born in Dublin, Ireland, the third out of 10 siblings, she later met and married her husband, Maurie Hyman, in England. She left everything she knew and loved and followed her husband to his native Kalamazoo, MI. She quickly made life-long friends in St. Monica's parish, where she sang in the choir for years. Many times after leaving her job at Borgess Hospital, she would sing for the sisters at Nazareth College. She raised her 3 children in Kalamazoo and Marcellus, leaving behind beautiful gardens everywhere she lived. She and Maurie eventually divorced but several years later fell in love at first sight with second husband, John "Pat" Delanty. Their lives together brought them to the East Coast where upon they settled in Rye, NH as it reminded her of her beloved Ireland. Though small in stature, she was larger than life! As a trained soprano, she could fill any room with her beautiful voice, but more importantly, she always filled her home with love. She leaves behind her son, Kevin Hyman of New York City and her daughter, Siobhan Hyman, of Portsmouth, NH. She was predeceased by her son, Garry Hyman and her husband, John Patrick Delanty.
