Shirley Hardy, age 90, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in Libertyville, IL. She was born in Sheridan, WY on March 2, 1926, daughter of the late Archie and Cleta Marie (Nee: Potter) Ewoldsen.

Shirley graduated from the Piedmont School of Nursing in Atlanta, GA. On November 26, 1949 in Cheyenne, WY, she was united in marriage to Harry F. Hardy, who preceded her in death October 16, 1998. When in Racine, Shirley was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and after moving to Libertyville she became of member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was also a member of the PEO Chapter in Libertyville, IL. Shirley enjoyed traveling to Ireland and Austria and loved to cook. Above all she was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who treasured the time spent with her family. She will be dearly missed by all.

Surviving are her children, Harry (Kathy Bellinder) Hardy Jr. of Manhattan, KS, Mark (Lorrie) Hardy of Lincolnshire, IL, Charles (Ann) Hardy of Elmhurst, IL, Teresa (Nicholas) Iknayan of Charlotte, NC, Kurt (Geriann) Hardy of Libertyville, Kathryn (Christopher) Plowman of Riverwoods, IL; daughter-in-law, Marge Klemm of Racine; 23 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, Charlie Hardy of Cheyenne, WY, Carolyn (Dennis) Hardy Olsen of Bend, OR, Tom Torguson of Biloxi MS; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Gary.

Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple Ave, Libertyville, IL Saturday, February 4, 2017, 9:00 A.M. – 10 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend John Trout officiating. Private inurnment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32, Racine, WI.
