Bates, Sharyn Kay Alamo Township, Kalamazoo Sharyn Kay Bates, age 37, passed from her earthly home to the loving arms of Jesus, May 26, 2018, after a valiant 8 month battle with a very rare form of small cell ovarian cancer. Wife of David L. Bates for 18 years. Wonderful, loving Mommy to Bailey, Keegan and Colton Bates. Loving daughter born to Susan (Spencer) and Daniel Tinkler. Thoughtful caring sister to Paul (Michelle) Tinkler and Karyn (Jason) Bouma. Sister-in-law to Josh Bates. Joyful aunt to Aerial and Abigail Tinkler, Raegan and Jacob Bouma. Daughter-in-law of David (Kelly) Bates and Sandy Bates. She was preceded in death by her father Daniel Tinkler and by grandparents Robert and Barbara Spencer and Harold and Elizabeth (Dempsey) Tinkler. Sharyn previously worked at Paw Paw Shopping Center, Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department, Kiddy U in Grand Prairie Texas. She graduated from Gobles High School in 1998. Sharyn was a faithful member of Almena United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00PM on Tuesday May 29 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. A service to celebrate Sharyn's life will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, May 30 at Almena United Methodist Church, 27503 County Road 375 (Almena Drive) Paw Paw, MI 49079. Immediately following the service there will be a reception at the church. Memorials in memory of Sharyn may be made to her children's educational fund in care of Edward Jones, 113 E. Allegan St., Otsego, MI 49078. The family would like to thank Dr. Mize, Julie DiGiovanni PA, all the nurses in the infusion room, reception, genetics counselor for very compassionate and professional care from West Michigan Cancer Center, Almena United Methodist Church and friends and family who brought all the meals, thoughts and prayers.
