Sharon Kay Johnson, age 73, of Galesburg passed away peacefully at home on Thursday morning, March 1, 2018. She was born in Anderson, Indiana on February 24, 1945 and was the loving daughter of James and Mary B. (Wilson) Garrett. Sharon retired in 2001 from Western Michigan University after more than 25 years of service. Sharon married Robert L. "Bob" Johnson in Ringgold, Georgia on October 16, 1984; he survives. She is also survived by her son, Tony (Ana) Bowker of Galesburg; her adopted son, Mike Stamm of Kalamazoo; her grandchildren, Austin Stamm of Kalamazoo, Krystal (Joe) Hubbard of Augusta, Michael Crandal of Battle Creek, and Adam Crandal of Swartz Creek; her brother, Ronald (Deana) Garrett of Battle Creek; her sister, Paula Garrett-Scott of North Carolina; and several great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her father, James Garrett; her mother, Mary B. Hensell; and her brother, Rick Garrett. Sharon was known as a very loving, generous & giving woman, with a huge heart, who loved to give gifts and spend time with her family. She enjoyed going to casino's, playing Bingo, shopping and cooking. Sharon was also an avid reader, Facebooker, and loved her ducks. The family will receive friends 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 4th at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel where funeral services to celebrate Sharon's life will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 5th.
