Springman, Shane Gavin Shane Gavin Springman passed away on Friday, October 19th, 2018, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born in Muncie, Indiana, at Ball Memorial Hospital on January 3rd, 1971. Shane attended Portage Central High School, where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. He attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, as a freshman and played baseball for their varsity program. A back injury requiring surgery forced Shane to give up his pursuit of baseball. Shane continued his passion for baseball later in life through coaching his two boys and their friends. Shane loved watching his athletes grow both as baseball players and as young men, and he was proud of the impact he was able to have on each of their lives. Shane moved to Arizona to complete his college education at Arizona State University, where he began his professional career. Shane worked at Merrill Lynch in Phoenix for one year before he moved back to Michigan so Shane could join his father, Bob Springman, in his wealth management practice. He and his dad worked together at Merrill Lynch for 6 years before Bob retired. Shane continued in the wealth management business until 2018. Shane is survived by his children, Jake, Sasha, Jaden, and Lexie, along with their mother Inga (Rozinsky) Springman, of Kalamazoo; father, Robert W. Springman and stepmother Peg Kolaja, of Kalamazoo; mother, Jeannie (Jim) Givens, of Sante Fe, NM; sister Heidi (Mike) Lenderink, and their four children, of Phoenix, AZ; and grandmother, Trula Springman, of Kalamazoo. He is also survived by his significant other, Jessica Ward, of Kalamazoo. Shane was preceded in death by his younger sister, Amber Cody, who passed away in 2014 after a battle with Leukemia. At this time, no services are scheduled. A memorial gathering will take place at a later date.
